THEORIES OF ASIAN ARCHITECTURE
PROJECT 1
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN IV
DISABILITIES EXPERIENCE PAVILLION
In this project, in a group of 2-3, we have to design a pavilion for a targeted user with a disability. The pavilion serves as a recreational sanctuary for the visually impaired with a gradual concrete slope that brings the user to the inside of the pavilion, which incorporates a flower picking area helped by several kinds of aromatic creepers climbing the surrounding mesh wall that surrounds the left side of the user experience. The gushing rush of water heard from the vortex roof on the right is supplied by collected rainfall. The vortex roof is studded with colourful polycarbonate panels designed to give visual comfort to the blind. The pavilion provides an enriching experience for the intended audience by utilising all available senses in harmony.
SITE ANALYSIS
In this assignment, we were required to conduct a site study as whole tutorial group on the given site, Kepong Botanical Garden which is located in Taman Ehsan, Kepong. First, we were split into groups to conduct site analysis on different topics such as site, circulation, softscapes and hardscapes, noise and views and etc. After all data were collected, we worked in our tutorial group to compile each data into 8 A1 boards. We were also required to decide on a theme, a PLUS component and user group to conduct our site analysis and design response that will be used for our final project, which is a Wellness Centre PLUS.
PROJECT 2
WELLNESS CENTRE PLUS
In this assignment, We were required to design a wellness center with the targeted user of youths which was set in the last site analysis project and growth as the PLUS component. The intention was to create a wellness youth centre for teenagers after school, where they can utilise spaces such as a gym, cafe, yoga centre, and more. Moreover, the theme of the concept is about growth. Where they can develop physically, mentally, and socially. Thus, the building is split into three parts.
